COMET Research Staff: Volcanic Gas and Ash
University of Oxford

Areas of Expertise: Volcanic Gases; Satellite Remote Sensing

Isabelle Taylor is a postdoctoral researcher working in the Earth Observation Data Group at the University of Oxford. Isabelle develops methods to detect and quantify information about volcanic clouds (sulfur dioxide, ash) using satellite data, working primarily with the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI). She then uses these techniques to learn about volcanic activity and the impact these clouds have on aviation, the atmosphere and climate.
