Lorenzo Mantiloni is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Exeter. His current research focuses on developing Finite Element numerical models of poro-visco-elastic inclusions in visco-elastic media to investigate the stability of magma-mush reservoirs. During his PhD, his research was focused on numerical and analogue models of dyke propagation in linear-elastic media, with applications to statistical forecasts of the locations of future eruptive vents in regions of distributed volcanism.

Lorenzo completed his PhD in 2023 at the University of Potsdam and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam, Germany. He started his postdoctoral position at the University of Exeter in 2023 within the DV3M NERC project, and has since been a COMET member. He is collaborating with researchers in Italy, Germany, Montserrat, Japan, and the US.
