Linear retrieval of SO2 column

This webpage shows the output of the linear SO2 retrieval
developed by the Earth Observation Data Group (EODG) at the University
of Oxford. The retrieval methodology is described in Walker et
al. (2011, 2012). This retrieval is able to flag pixels which contain
elevated levels of SO2 by separating the SO2
signal from the spectral background. The method makes several
assumptions and is only used for detection, rather than quantitative
analysis. The output of the retrieval is gridded and saved as a .tif
file which can be downloaded and plotted.

hours. This is updated every five minutes.

search our historical record which currently covers 2007 to 2021 (see
below the map).
