About this map

This interactive map provides links to EU Copernicus Sentinel-1 InSAR products available for download from COMET-LiCS. Interferograms and coherence maps have been produced automatically using the LiCSAR processor, which builds on the Gamma SAR and Interferometry software. Interferograms have been processed in overlapping “frames” defined within COMET-LiCS. Products are represented on this map by shapes that match these frames. The colour of each frame represents how many products are available for that frame. Select a frame on the map to download the data products.

The map’s links to data will always have the latest processed results, however the colour scale and file number counts are only periodically updated, representing the data that has been processed within COMET-LiCS using the JASMIN-CEMS processing and storage facility at CEDA. New interferograms should be available within 2 weeks of acquisition. The initial focus is on the Alpine-Himalayan tectonic belt, but we are working on processing the complete archive for tectonic and volcanic areas globally.

Data and funding

All Sentinel-1 results that are available for download are Derived Works of Copernicus data (2015-2016), subject to the following use conditions: “Terms and conditions for the use and distribution of sentinel data and service information”.

This work is funded by the UK Natural Environment Research Council through the Centre for the Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics (COMET), the “Looking inside the Continents from Space” large grant (NE/K011006/1), and the “Earthquakes without Frontiers” consortium (NE/J01978X/1).

Acknowledging the use of LiCSAR products

Notice: Data Migration in Progress – Possible Service Disruptions (***from 27 August 2025***)

Dear LiCSAR users,

We are currently performing a data migration to a new storage system to improve the long-term performance and reliability of our data services.

During this migration period, a subset of data may be temporarily unavailable or may result in download/processing errors. We have identified the specific frames that may be affected, and we encourage all users to review the list below (note that the list is growing in the next couple of weeks):

👉 View List of Affected Data IDs here

If you are working with any of the listed data sets, please be aware of the following:

  1. LiCSBAS has already been updated to incorporate the necessary changes. Please update the code from our github repository: https://github.com/comet-licsar/LiCSBAS , e.g. using git clone https://github.com/comet-licsar/LiCSBAS
The command LiCSBAS01_get_geotiff.py is ready to find and download data normally, with no action needed on your part.
  2. If you are using our portal to search available datasets, please be aware that data already transferred to the new repository will not appear in the usual file list. If the data is crucial to you, you can still find it by changing part of the URL – from ‘LiCSAR_products’ to ‘LiCSAR_products.future’. This is a temporary situation that will be resolved soon.
  3. For file-not-found errors in the Earthquake InSAR Data Provider please refer to the point 2 above

Please note that this page and the instructions are updated regularly as the migration progresses. We recommend checking back frequently for the latest information.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we improve our infrastructure.

For further questions or to report unexpected issues, please contact us at comet@leeds.ac.uk.
