Annie Winson is a Multihazards Scientist at the British Geological survey with an interest in Multihazard Risk Modelling. She has a background in volcanology, specifically focusing on Plinian eruption forecasting, volcanic hazard assessment and the effective communication of volcanic activity through Volcano Alert Levels.

Annie joined the BGS in 2018 and has since led work to develop a multihazard risk modelling toolbox, which integrates hazard assessment information with population and building exposure data and vulnerability metrics. She was appointed as the BGS Science Adviser to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in April 2025 where she works as part of the Natural Hazard Science Hub to facilitate the use of science for natural hazard event response, early warning and preparedness.
