Brian Baptie leads the Earthquake Seismology team at the British Geological Survey (BGS) has extensive experience of studies of natural and induced seismicity. This has included novel methods to locate earthquakes and source inversion with surface broadband seismic networks. Other work has included the use of both local earthquake and ambient noise tomography to develop 3-D models of the elastic properties of the sub-surface, and the use ambient noise to measure temporal variations in the elastic properties of the sub-surface. Recently, he has also worked on the development of a new national seismic hazard model for the UK.
