Clive Oppenheimer is a Professor of Volcanology and geoscientist based in the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge.  His interests include magmatic and volcanic processes, the climatic and societal impacts of eruptions, remote sensing, paleoclimatology and geoarchaeology. He is also a filmmaker and made two documentary features with Werner Herzog. He has collaborated with volcano observatories worldwide in the development of monitoring devices, and participated in 14 field missions in Antarctica.
