James Dalziel is Earth Risk Research Lead for insurance broker and risk advisory firm WTW’s Willis Research Network, working with academic and industrial research partners around the world in the fields of volcanology, seismology, geology and geophysics. His research collaborations centre around geohazards such as volcanic eruption, earthquake, landslide and tsunami; including modelling and remote sensing, risk mitigation, exposure, vulnerability, and interactions between compounding and cascading hazards.

Since becoming a member of COMET as a Masters by Research student at the University of Bristol in 2020, studying the relationship between seismic moment and magmatic volume change during precursory volcanic unrest, he became a COMET Associate within his current role in 2023.
