Tim Wright is Professor of Satellite Geodesy at the University of Leeds. His work has been at the forefront of developing the use of satellite radar interferometry (InSAR) for measuring tectonic and volcanic deformation. He has been involved with COMET since its creation and has been its director since 2014 (co-director since 2024). He works closely with international partners across the world including in China, Ethiopia, and Türkiye

Tim completed his PhD in Oxford in 2001 following which he was awarded a NERC independent research fellowship followed by a Royal Society University Research Fellowship, also in Oxford. He moved to Leeds in 2006. He is also co-founder and director of SatSense Ltd. Since August 2023, he has been Director of Research and Innovation in the School of Earth and Environment at Leeds.
