Hood

Observations of Deformation

Volcano number:322010
Region:
Country:United States
Geodetic measurements?Yes
Deformation observation?No
Measurement method(s):GPS - continuous, EDM
Duration of observation:1980 - 1984, 2005 - present
Characteristics of deformation:

In 1980-1984 theĀ U.S Geological Survey established and remeasured a trilateration network at Hood, measuring slope distances with EDM. Any changes in repeat measurements of this network were attributed to random errorĀ (Chadwick et al. 1985).
Two continuous GPS receivers were installed in 2005 – 2006. These observations show no measurable deformation in the region (CVO website) (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/monitoring/gps/Pacific_Northwest/).
