Harrat Rahat

Observations of Deformation

Volcano number:231070
Region:
Country:Saudi Arabia
Geodetic measurements?No
Measurement method(s):No measurements
Characteristics of deformation:

The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) maintain a seismograph network on the Medina side of Harrat Rahat to monitor for signs of volcanic activity, and also monitors the temperatures of hot springs at volcanic fields across the country. The SGS is responsible for the monitoring of the volcanic fields and provides publically accessible information about the activity in the country (Brown et al., 2015).

A national seismic network is located in Saudi Arabia.
Note that all ‘volcanoes’ in Saudi Arabia are volcanic fields normally comprising multiple, monogenetic (single eruption) vents.
