Observations of Deformation

Volcano number:263260
Region:
Country:Indonesia
Geodetic measurements?Yes
Deformation observation?Yes
Measurement method(s):InSAR
Duration of observation:2007 to 2009
Inferred cause(s) of deformation:Uncertain
Characteristics of deformation:

Chaussard and Amelung (2012) have reported an uplift of 8.6cm during the period of observation (mid-2007 to early 2009). The uplift signal has a circular shape that is centred on the edifice that is likely to indicate the arrival of new magma. The shallow-sourced inflation of 1.1km below sea level has so far not resulted in eruption.
