Wudalianchi

Observations of Deformation

Volcano number:305030
Region:
Country:China
Geodetic measurements?Yes
Deformation observation?Yes
Measurement method(s):GPS - continuous, Levelling
Duration of observation:1970s to 1990s (levelling)
Inferred cause(s) of deformation:Uncertain
Characteristics of deformation:

Lingyun et al. (2014) present “a broad view of present-day 3D deformation field around the Northeast China region was derived from GPS and leveling observations”.
The authors analyzed the vertical deformation surrounding the Wuclalianchi Volcanic Group using specifically levelling data, as well as the Longgang Volcanic Group, and Chang-baishan Tianchi Volcano. They found that the “Wudalianchi Volcanic Group was subsiding with a large velocity, which is consistent with its surrounding areas” (Figures 1 and 2; levelling results)
